Mr Makhosini Mlotshwa
Mr Makhosini Mlotshwa is an experienced consultant general and bariatric Surgeon. He specialises in general, gastrointestinal and weight loss surgery. He performs open and laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for gastrointestinal conditions that include gallbladder, bowel and appendix.
He also performs surgery for obesity (weight loss), abdominal wall hernia, hiatus hernia, lumps and bumps, benign anorectal, pilonidal disease and endoscopic procedures.
Makho Mlotshwa qualified in 1997 with University of Zimbabwe medical school and obtained a fellowship in general surgery with the College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa in 2005. He further pursued postgraduate training in the United Kingdom obtaining a Fellowship with the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2015.
He also completed a year Fellowship in Bariatric (weight loss) and Metabolic surgery with the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. This institute is accredited by the International Federation for Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO) as a centre of excellence, performing over 300 primary weight loss operations and over 100 revision operations per year.
Mr M Mlotshwa is a keen teacher of basic principles of surgery on both national and international platforms. He also supervises specialty trainee doctors and Fellows. He has interests in key national and international research collaborations.
